A correspondent is a journalist based in a foreign city (often the capital of a country) who covers a region or sometimes an entire continent and files stories to his/her news editor. Correspondents typically stay in contact with local officials, members of the community and other journalists to identify strategic sources. They also maintain contacts among diplomats, members of the military and other organizations on the ground that may provide them with valuable information about a specific situation.
As a result of these interactions, the reporter’s objectivity is compromised by the biases that he/she picks up from various sources and the narrative presented in his/her stories.
